The opening of the 2010-2011 school year brings a few changes. Mrs. Margie Swiger, special education teacher, retired with 35 years . Mifflin wishes her the best in her retirement years. Also, Ms. Stepanie Griffen, music and band teacher, left Mifflin to continue her education in music. The best to her!

New to our staff is Mrs. Jennifer Morris, special education teacher and Ms. Laura Schupbach, music and band teacher. We welcome Jennifer and Laura to our staff and wish them a great year!

The Ohio Achievement Assessments earned Mifflin an EFFECTIVE rating for the 2009-2010 school year.

The Ohio Standards will continue to guide the instruction at Mifflin. All grade levels have standards covering reading/language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, and fine arts. Standards have specific indicators on what students should master at specific grade levels. Standards and assessment information are available on the Ohio Department Website or by contacting the school office.

State Assessments measure how well our students have achieved in meeting the standards. Achievement testing begins the end of April, 2011 for students in grades 3,4,5,and 6. Students in kindergarten. first and second grades will have several diagnostic tests designed for teachers to use in their instruction. In addition, third grade students will have an October reading assessment.

The April assessment will be as follows: Third grade: reading and mathematics; Fourth grade: reading and mathematics; Fifth grade: reading, mathematics, and science; Sixth grade: reading and mathematics.

Through the continued involvement of students, parents, teachers and community, Mifflin Elementary will continue to provide quality educational services and programs to all of our students.
